Finnish filmmakers score in international competition

LOS ANGELES, CALIF., USA –A Finnish filmmaker has won an award in the 2012 US International Film & Video Festival competition.

DeCo Media Oy/Ltd., Espoo, Finland, has won a second place Silver Screen Award in Television: Documentary Programs for “Underground Railroad: The William Still Story.” Still kept records of those who ran for their freedom and passed through the Philadelphia “station” at the risk of his own freedom. His records present a direct reporting of the events and people, and the families they left behind, and their roles in one of the greatest of North American sagas.

The overall competition awarded 20 First Place Gold Camera statuettes, 28 Silver Screen Awards, 60 Certificates for Creative Excellence and four Student Awards. Twenty-three countries produced winners in this 42nd annual competition, which drew more than 1,100 participating entries from 29 countries.
