GERMAN COMPANIES AMONG 'BEST' NOMINEES; WIN 10 GOLD AWARDS

LOS ANGELES CA., USA - German companies received 10 Gold Camera and seven Silver Screen awards and had two productions nominated for "Best of Festival" in the 2003 U.S. International Film And Video Festival.

Clariant GMBH of Sulzbach am Taunus won two Gold and a Silver and a "Best of Festival" nomination for its "Innovations" film on the company'sPigments and Additives Division products. The production used the theme of building a Japanese art kite to highlight the products through a melding of tradition and future. Production was by hagenfilm GmbH of Frankfurt.

BM8 GmbH of Hamburg was also a "Best of Festival" nominee and won two Gold awards for "Seven Years Later," a film produced for the release of the new Mercedes E-Class station wagon. One of the Gold awards was in the Cinematography, Videography, Camera Work category.

BM8 described the production as more of a "sophisticated product placement rather than a classical product film." The company also won a Silver award for "Volkswagen Euro Van," a communications production aimed at dealers.

The festival received more than 1,500 entries from 28 countries. A total of 64 Gold Camera Awards and 92 Silver Screen Awards were given in 52 categories or sub-categories.

Other winners were:

  • Castor-film gmbh of Stuttgart won a Gold and two Silver awards for "DaimlerChrysler Highlights," in Specialty Production, Corporate Image and Employee-oriented Corporate Communications.
  • Red Orange of Stuttgart won Gold awards for "Cabrio Press Event Geneva" in Specialty Productions-Multi-Image and for "Pre-Safe" in Advertising, Sales, Promotion to a General Audience.
  • GROUP.IE GmbH, Frankfurt, won a Gold in Public Relations for "INA - What Moves the World," and Silver Screen awards in Presentations Created for Visitor Centers, Museums, Plant Tours and other public venues for "Tele Aid," and "Pre Safe."
  • Wesdeutscher Rundfunk Cologne won a Gold in Children's Programming for "Badger's Parting Gifts" and and in Short Films, Short Subjects for "Death is Not the End of the World."
  • E-Motion GmbH, Wildberg, received a Silver award in Manufacturing, Engineering, Industrial & Technical Processes for "Passion for Building Cars."

The competition is in its 36th year and is recognized as one of the world'sleading events for Business, Television, Documentary, Industrial, and Informational and Entertainment productions.
