“I believe that the most important aspect in TV dramas is to effectively portray the human existence,” says Jun Kimura, producer of “Lessons,” which won Best of Festival –Entertainment in 2012. Kimura spoke at an awards ceremony held at Kansai Telecasting Corporation (KTV) in Osaka when FilmFest Chairman Lee Gluckman visited the group.
KTV is a member of Fuji Network System. “Lessons” features two young women who develop a special bond because both grew up without the love and guidance of a mother.
”I am both grateful and relieved that this program has been appraised in the USA,” Kimura said. “It makes no difference whether we live in different environments, have different cultures or histories, we still share the same deep feelings for those living around us.”
Fuji accepts its wealth of awards
During Filmfest’s September visit to Fuji Television Network in Tokyo, staff who worked on 10 winning productions were on hand to accept 11 awards that included Best of Festival-Documentary for “Pioneers in the Land of Rubble - Recovering from the 3/11 Disaster” plus three Gold Camera, four Silver Screen awards and three Certificates for Creative Excellence. The broadcaster had wins in family, culture, history, game show and reality categories.

During a Sept. 6, 2012, gathering featuring officials of Deventer, The Netherlands, the creator of a film on the city’s revitalization, received the One World Award for documenting the spirit of the project. The award is sponsored by the International Quorum of Motion Picture Producers (IQ).
Henk van Mierlo of Henk van Mierlo VOF Advertising Agency and Photo-Film Studios, Deventer, accepted the award from Lee Gluckman, chairman of the U.S. International Film & Video Festival in Los Angeles, Calif. Gluckman also is a member of IQ.
The film, “Heritage Saved Is History Preserved,” had previously won Certificates for Creative Excellence in the Documentary and the Directing categories in the general competition of the 2012 Festival. The One World Award recognizes the film that best uses the power of the medium to promote goodwill and cooperation. The award recognizes that a story well told can inspire mankind to its noblest purpose.
